Many people want to do something to get rid of the clutter they have, and we created this guide to help you turn your room into a new and beautiful space. Follow our tips and organize your home in no time.

1. Use the movie collection

Everyone has a movie collection; we’ve been buying them since there were no streaming services available and we still do the same with our favorite movies. Use that movie collection to create a wall décor.

You can use the space behind the TV or, depending on the size, you can put several shelves on a different wall and show your unique style. You can do the same with your music collection or books. When you showcase the things that interest you, you will put a color in your room, plus your guests will be always interested in that, and they might disregard other things that don’t look that perfect.

2. The plants can make a huge difference

If you want your living room to look amazing and to smell even better, use house plants. You can put as many or as few as you want, and you can even find plants that don’t need a lot of care.

Try to have at least one large plant that will be the focal point of the room. Use some cool pots or containers, and you can even use your creativity and create some interesting DIY designs.

Right now, hanging pots are trendy, so you can use some old rope and create unique pieces. If you don’t want to do that, you can just go to the home décor shop and buy a few pots that will turn your space into something cool.

3. Organize around your TV

We have too many cords in every room. You need to plug your TV in, modem, router, the speakers and so on. Plus, we usually have cords from a phone that’s not charging anymore and when you look at all that, you will realize that the whole thing looks like a mess.

The first thing that will help you with that is if you mount the TV on the wall. Places like Mike Harris Aerials & Satellite can help you with the installation and you will have your TV mounted on the wall in no time.

After you are done with that, you can play around with the cords. You can create a skyline of your favorite city with them or just tie them up using a zipper and have everything in perfect order. You may need a bit of a time to get rid of the cord clutter, but when you are done with that, your living room will look far better.

4. Minimalistic shelves

If you want to organize your living space and if you want it to be easy for dusting and cleaning, try to keep all flat surfaces clean. This does not mean bare shelves; you just need to keep them clutter-free.

If you have too many small figurines, papers, books or even pens laying around, organize them. Put all of the books on one shelve, see if you need all the figurines, and put the pens in one container.

When you have more free space on the flat surface, your living room will seem bigger and it will seem brighter. Light reflects better on clutter-free surfaces, so you will feel like you’re living in a mansion.

5. Storage benches

How many times have you been in a situation where guests or family invited themselves to your home, without leaving you enough time to take care of all the mess? If you want to feel less stressed about things like this, you need to have a few extra storage spaces.

The easiest thing you can do is buy furniture that has extra storage space under it or install benches that can be used as a sofa, and as extra storage space. These drawers cannot be noticed unless you know they are there, plus you can open them and hide things that should not be seen in a second.

6. Use the space behind the sofa

People that don’t have the sofa pressed against the wall, should use that space to their advantage. Don’t just leave that space empty. It will fill with dust and you will have to bother with cleaning it every other day. You can put shelves that go from the wall or window up to the sofa. Use the space below the shelves as storage, and use the shelves to put some interesting things, like books or plants.

7. Rearrange the furniture

If you think that you can create a better living space if you just changed a few things, then you should do it. Rearranging your furniture will make you feel like you have a whole new room, plus you can finally see which things you actually need, and what should be thrown away.

You can even divide your room and create two different sitting areas, that will give the whole space a whole new depth. Make sure you don’t end up with too much furniture and try to color coordinate everything. Do you have any tips for people who are about to rearrange their rooms? What do you think is the best way to start? When you start with this project, you should know that it is going to take some time. It is best to do it over the weekend when you have more free time.

Start by cleaning up all the things, and see what you want to keep, donate, or throw away. When you get rid of old things, you make space for new and better ones. You can even have a garage sale, and make some money out of the things you don’t need anymore. Take your time and enjoy your new room.
