I will be writing a book which is the culmination of my MSC studies a few years ago. I’m a ‘Disruptive Fashion Lover,’ and I’ll find anyway I can to challenge the unachievable body image ideals in our industry. I am loving…being a tribal elder. I love getting older too. I’d rather enjoy the gains of experiential and intellectual capital and the adventure of boldly going than ever turn back the clock. I am watching…any music documentary I can find. I love the chaos of creativity and the power of music to inspire. Searching for Sugarman is an absolute favourite, but I can get lost in anything just finished one on Janis Joplin and before that Brian Wilson I am reading…a lot of social science study on objectification – it’s research for the book. But at night time before I drop off I can usually squeeze in 20 minutes of Dorothy Rowe’s Beyond Fear. She is a renowned psychologist. She knows her shit. I am eating…less sugar than I was but OMG I’m an addict. I dream of chocolate, fudge, marzipan, peppermint crème. I am wearing… embroidered vintage culottes and brogues. I am excited…about Graduate Fashion Week at the Truman Brewery from 4th to 7th of June. This is my favourite time for unfettered creativity. I’m always thrilled by the beauty and innovation from the next generation of designers, creatives, writers, image makers. The conversation around emotional sustainability is growing as more students are emboldened to challenge the narrow physical ideals prioritised by top end fashion operators. It’s nuts that in an age where the consumer and the market place is so diverse, the model portrayal is still very limited. I am trying… to stay humble. I have learned that I am not superwoman. I am using… Ariane Poole’s primer and her brilliant concealer and I have been for well over 10 years. Don’t try and interest me in anyone else’s stuff.
