  • I AM GOING… to training right after this interview. I’ll be heading over to Stratford to the Olympic Park to go and throw myself off diving boards. My usual training regime is six hours a day, six days a week, so it’s pretty intense, but if you don’t put in the hours' training, you can never be the best at what you do. Stratford is where my main training base is, but sometimes we go around training camps all over the world, depending on what the main event of the year is.

  • I AM LOVING… how mild the weather has been! Normally, at this time of year, I’m absolutely frozen but, this Christmas, you could actually go and do things outside without feeling like you were in the Arctic. I was in London for Christmas and New Year; we cooked for 17 people, so we ended up cooking the turkey on the barbecue. It was a lot, but we managed it. I’m massively keen on cooking – it’s something I’ve done from when I was a kid. My grandma would bake cakes with me and she taught me how to make soup, then pasta bake. Her recipe for the pasta bake is even in my new cookbook! I’ve always been a massive fan of being in the kitchen and I’ve done six weeks of cookery school. If I’m not diving or sleeping, I’m usually eating.

  • I AM READING… The Hunger Games in Spanish. I try to improve my Spanish by reading books that I’ve already read in English. I did the GCSE and A Level – I was the only person who decided to take it for A Level at my school, and there was a teaching assistant from Spain, so I got to spend a lot of time one-on-one with her, just speaking and practising. Then, whenever I used to go to Mexico for competitions, I used to speak in Spanish for the interviews and things like that.

  • I AM WATCHING… it’s more "I have watched" now, because I’ve finished everything! I’ve been watching House Of Cards, Stranger Things, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Orange Is The New Black and Black Mirror. I’m waiting for Game Of Thrones to come back, too. I don’t really get the chance to watch TV very often – it’s normally when I’m travelling that I catch up on all the box sets.

  • I AM EATING … eggs every day. At some point in the day, I will always have some form of egg, whether it’s scrambled or in some kind of sauce or mixture. It’s a great way to get quick protein with minimal carbs in it as well. In terms of guilty pleasures, cheesecake is my ultimate favourite thing – I’ve actually got a recipe for cheesecake in my book. I have a sweet tooth – it’s something that I struggle with – and in the book I talk about the "sugar train": if you start eating sugary cereals in the morning, your blood sugar levels go all the way up and then, as you start crashing, you want more sugar, so you’re on the train and you’re going up and down.

  • I AM USING… my phone quite a lot. I’m always on social media – Twitter, Facebook, Instagram – and I got a new camera lens from Lance for Christmas, for my YouTube videos. It’s something I started at the beginning of last year and that’s how the idea of the book came about, because I’ve got workout videos on there, life hacks – an extension of the book basically on YouTube. And it’s something that I’ve enjoyed doing – I’ve been on camera-operation courses and editing courses, to be able to run the YouTube channel myself.

  • I AM EXCITED… about the next four years and the journey to 2020. There will be ups and downs, but I’m ready to start achieving my goal – and that’s to go to 2020 in the best shape I can. It’ll be my fourth Olympic Games, so I’ll have a lot of experience under my belt, and hopefully I'll try to win the gold medal. I’m also very excited about my wedding – it’s really exciting to plan what's meant to be the best day of your life. And the book, of course – the whole idea of the book is to make it accessible, so people can pick up ingredients on the way home from work, at any corner shop, and you don’t need a gym membership to do any of the workouts. The book also focuses not just on physical health, but mental health as well.

  • I AM WEARING.. budgie smugglers. Not right now, but usually I’m always in my swimming trunks – that’s the thing I usually spend most time in, if I’m honest. My favourites are the Adidas cut, because they always seem to be the ones that fit the best. Sometimes, I train in my Team GB stuff – it all depends whatever’s clean at the time, to be honest.

  • I AM TRYING .. not to bite my nails for my New Year’s resolution and, so far, I’ve stopped biting, but started picking. Usually, they look horrendous, but they’re OK at the moment – but we’re only a few days in, so hopefully I’ll carry on.
