Teen arrested after five linked acid attacks in 90 minutes 

A teenager has been arrested after five people were attacked with acid in the space of 90 minutes in East London last night. The successive attacks were carried out by two men on a moped and took place in Hackney, Stoke Newington and Islington. Police have confirmed that all five attacks were linked. All victims – one suffering “life-changing” injuries – are being treated in hospital. The teenager has been held by police on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery.

Harriet Harman seeks political unity in fight against abuse 

Labour MP Harriet Harman is calling on politicians from all parties to unite and stamp out abuse of female MPs. Harman, who is the Mother of the House, urged women in the Labour party to speak out against abuse of Conservative MPs, warning that “a misogynistic attack on one woman is a misogynistic attack on all women”. She said that the scale of abuse currently levelled at MPs is “undermining democracy” and that we should treat abuse of those in public office with “absolute seriousness”.

Trump criticised for "creepy" comments to Brigitte Macron

US president Donald Trump has been criticised for making leering comments to Brigitte Macron, the wife of French president Emmanuel Macron. During his first state visit to France, he told 64-year-old Brigitte Macron, “You’re in such good shape.” Afterwards, he reiterated to Emmanuel Macron, “She’s in such good physical shape,” a video clip shows, before turning back to Mrs Macron and reportedly saying, “Beautiful.”

Johanna Konta was knocked out of Wimbledon in a two-set defeat to Venus Williams yesterday – but “Kontamania” is still in full swing, and experts say she is in prime position to win “all sorts of marketing campaigns”. “There aren’t that many British women at the top of sport right now, so she is in a position to fill that spot,” Nigel Currie, a sports marketing expert, told The Times. “It’s an incredible opportunity for her and she’s not very far away from a big breakthrough.”

Beyoncé shares first pictures of twins Sir carter and Rumi

Beyoncé has released the first picture of herself with newborn twins Sir Carter and Rumi. The singer shared the photo – which shows her holding the twins while wrapped in a floral purple sheet and wearing a blue veil – on her Instagram account. The picture was released in celebration of the babies turning one month old.
