I AM... Liz Earle 1 min I AM... I’m looking forward to reporting on the harvest and all the wonderful health and beauty benefits it will bring, including plumping and smoothing of the skin. Adding more olive oil into the diet is so beneficial and great skin starts from within. I AM LOVING... the sunshine. It’s really important that we protect our faces and necks with a mineral-based sun screen when we’re out in the sun, but we mustn’t fight shy of every ray, particularly women. The skin creates vitamin D from sunlight and it’s really a important nutrient to preserve strong bones and help prevent osteoporosis, so don’t completely cover up. I AM READING... Grass-Fed Nation, a brilliant new book by Graham Harvey. It’s all about the importance of pasture-fed farming, eating grass-fed beef for its omega 3 content and looking out for free-range, pasture grazed milk. It’s a really key book on sustainable farming and how that impacts on wellbeing. I AM WATCHING... ITV’s This Morning - because I’m back on it! I would say that wouldn’t I! Having started my TV career on there (incredibly) 28 years ago, I’m now back as a regular wellbeing contributor promoting beauty and wellness from the inside out, and loving my time back in the studio doing live TV again. I AM EATING... soaked, activated nuts. I’m a big fan of almonds in general for their protein and beneficial fat content, but the trick to get more out of your nuts is to soak them in water for a few hours before you eat them. I always recommend doing this in filtered water to remove its chlorine and impurities, ensuring the best taste. Soaking in water helps to activate the enzymes in nuts and seeds by unlocking essential enzymes and nutrients in the nuts, making them extra beneficial before we eat them. I AM WEARING... a lot more British fashion. I’ve become much more aware of the importance of eradicating slavery from the overseas fashion supply chain especially, and wearing British-made clothes is one answer to that. I’m loving Jaeger at the moment, founded by a Dr Jaeger, who’s aim was to focus on natural materials that could be worn next to the skin. For example, silk, cotton and wool are key fabrics as they tend to be kinder on sensitive skins. There’s an interesting connection between fashion and beauty. I AM USING... My BRITA Fill&Go water bottle. I’m passionate about sustainability and I recently worked with The Marine Conservation Society and BRITA to conduct research which revealed Brits are using 7.7 billion single use plastic bottles a year. That is staggering and I’m committed to using sustainable alternatives, such as the Fill&Go whilst I’m on the move to minimise this impact. Refill a water bottle before you leave the house – that’s a really important sustainability message. I AM TRYING... to stay active and to improve my running. I was recently fitted for a pair of Asics running shoes, where I went along and had my running gait measured. They then fit you for a specific pair of trainers that are highly cushioned and very supportive and help you to run. The idea is that this help us to run faster and better while protecting our joints. Fingers crossed.
