Meghan Markle’s sister is bad mouthing her… again

“The DUCHASS should be humane to our father who has given her everything… and this media crap can stop!”

Family feuds are hardly newsworthy, in and of themselves. On some level, it’s something almost everyone has experienced. But in the case of Meghan Markle, who has found herself simultaneously married into one of the most famous families in the world and at odds with her own, her situation feels particularly cruel. While most of our familial dysfunction play out in private (at the very worst, in front of a new boyfriend at Christmas), Meghan’s has played out on a world stage since she announced her engagement to Prince Harry – and it doesn’t look like it will be stopping anytime soon.

Meghan's estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, has extended her 15 minutes of fame with repeated public attacks on the Duchess of Sussex. And yet again, she has launched a vicious tirade against Meghan, repeatedly referring to her as the “DuchASS” (see what she did there?), and calling out her apparent mistreatment of their father, Thomas Markle.

"I am not candy coating anything anymore! The DUCHASS should be humane to our father who has given her everything… and this media crap can stop!” she said in a string of rabid tweets.

"He was the one who was always there for her. Fake waves and smiles can stop. The duchASS can bow to the daddy. Sorry folks there is no valid or a good argument in favour of inhumane treatment of both sides of the family and a best friend of 30 years."

It’s like a terribly written fairytale, where the girl gets the Prince, but the cruel step-sister continues to exert control through tabloid smears forever after

"Snobbery and arrogance are not humanitarian traits,” she continued. “She has an obligation especially to treat our father with kindness."

In an earlier tweet, she even likened Meghan to Donald Trump, saying they were similar in the way they were perceived by the public. “People need to stop being so blinded by glare of celebrity status and wealth. Trump said he could shoot someone and not lose votes. The same mentality applies to my sister.”

The ongoing attack from her sister is mortifying to watch, so you can only imagine how excruciating it is for Meghan. It’s like a terribly written fairytale, where the girl gets the Prince, but the cruel step-sister continues to exert control through tabloid smears forever after. And, though Samantha Markle claims she is only carrying on the attacks to protect her father, her motives clearly lie elsewhere. Samantha, who famously helped her father fake the paparazzi photos that were largely responsible for the animosity between the Markle’s and the royal family in the first place, has a long history of badmouthing Meghan. So much so, her own mother has said she had been “dogging [Meghan] for the last 20 years".

Alongside this, she has made no bones about her wish to monetise her connection to the sister she despises so much. “Let’s face it – we all have to survive,” she told Good Morning Britain in July. “Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that’s fine, but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royal and, as a family, we’re not subject to royal protocol.”

With a rumoured stint on Celebrity Big Brother that failed to materialise, a tell-all book in the works and non-stop coverage thanks to non-stop comments on her sister, Samantha Markle is unlikely to stop her campaign anytime soon. But let’s spare a thought for Meghan before engaging in her hate – she doesn’t have the luxury of simply keeping her baggage stored away behind closed doors.
