Among the new crop of midis, metallic and snake print on Zara’s website, you may have noticed an extra little detail that has got everyone talking. “Have you seen the cracking red lipstick the Zara models are wearing?” one Pooler pointed out. “I wonder what lipstick they used?” said another. More importantly: “Where can we get one?” Well, it turns out we can now buy into the action, because Zara has just unveiled its new range of lip colours inspired by the backstage shades used by Pat McGrath, who created the AW18 campaign looks for the brand.
The range, named Ultimatte, includes 12 velvety matte lipsticks and eight highly pigmented liquid lipsticks in an array of autumnal shades, from classic pillarbox and poppy and brick reds to deep plums, merlots, black cherry and bright lilac – all with a velvety matte finish. My favourite is shade 16, a blue-based postbox red that instantly makes my face look brighter (and my eyebags less baggy). The soft formula is a tiny bit smudgy around the lip line, but quickly tidied up with a cotton bud it looks immaculate. The thing that impressed me the most, though, was the staying power; I put it on in the morning, and it was still there at the end of the day. And, to finish things off, the matte navy packaging looks stylish, too.
This isn’t Zara’s first foray into beauty – its perfume offering is already well established – but it is the first time the brand has ventured into make-up. “With the new addition of this beauty line, Zara aims to provide top quality, innovative, fun and affordable products,” the brand said, in a press release.
Priced at £9.99, the lip colours are available to buy exclusively from Zara’s website now. And, in the run up to Christmas, you can pick up a special-edition lip kit, which includes a select number of Ultimatte shades in a three-piece set (lipstick, liquid lipstick and lip pencil), which is ideal for gifting. So, alongside your leopard-print midi, you can now pick up a gorgeous statement lipstick. Merry Christmas, everyone.
