Autumn’s magical, isn’t it? Crunchy leaves, chunky knits, guilt-free evenings spent indoors under the duvet, binge-watching Netflix. Add to that the promise of a gorgeous berry lip shade and a spicy new fragrance, and life truly doesn’t get much better. We asked the team what exciting new beauty finds they’re looking forward to cracking out this season. Here are the bits we're going giddy over.

Lauren Laverne's Pick: Smashbox's Primer

I really look forward to autumn make-up and beauty stuff. It's a chance to play with deeper colours after a summer relatively bare-faced. I’m currently loving Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia which gives a lovely golden gleam and Smashbox’s primer oil, which makes my foundation dewy and gorgeous all day, even in colder weather.

FRANKIE GRADDON'S PICK: CLINIQUE'S LIQUID LIPSTICK

New season, new lipstick. I have OD'd on bright red and pink over the past few months and am now into deeper autumnal colours. My new discovery is Clinique's Pop Liquid Matte Lipstick in Sweetheart Pop – a rich berry colour that lasts the day. The added primer stops your lips getting dried out – a curse of the coming months.

ELLE TURNER'S PICK: RITUALS' BATH OIL

There's nothing better than a lovely hot bath come autumn. I like to fill mine with Rituals Orange And Cedar Fortune Oil. It smells like how I’d imagine a retreat to a log cabin outside Stockholm would smell (fire burning, buns toasting and a jacuzzi bubbling merrily): citrusy but with a familiar and comforting woody smell. It doesn’t yield humongous bubbles, but will leave you feeling very soft and happy indeed.

Tory Frost's Pick: Rimmel's nail polish

The best thing about autumn, after Strictly, is navy nails. It's always my first dark colour of the season – chic, timeless and with a little bit of sparkle, still exciting and worth the mani effort. I get mine in OPI Shellac Midnight Swim every September without fail, but you can get the same effect at home with Rimmel London's new SuperGel in Seduce.

Hannah Betts' Pick: Bobbi Brown's EyeLiner

I live for autumn beauty, so there’s a lot to be excited about. However, the item I am destined to wear most is Bobbi Brown’s Limited-Edition Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in Union Jack. This is no Lady Di blue, but a deep purple that makes my green eyes look stupendous. Whenever I apply it, I give a delighted little cry.

Lizzie Ostrom's Pick: L'Officine Universelle Buly's perfume

I'm very excited about the launch in the UK of French apothecary brand L'Officine Universelle Buly at Dover Street Market on Friday. They have all sorts of esoteric cosmetic vinegars, oils, clays pomades and brushes, and you can imagine some wise woman coming up to you and asking: "Tell me, what ails you, my dear, and I'm sure we have a cure." Their triple water fragrances – which unusually don't contain alcohol – are delightful, especially the Heliotrope and my favourite citrus fruit, the Yuzu de Kiso. It's also a home fragrance crack den. We're not just talking candles, but pot pourris, incenses and even chips of Palosanto or "holy" wood for fumigating your space.
