The candle that's worth staying in for

If you'd rather stay in-in than go out-out, light yourself one of these

I don’t know about you but I’m feeling rather hygge. I cooked a cottage pie FROM SCRATCH last night and I’ve bought a new throw for the sofa. It’s all gone very The Good Life.

Of course this time of year was made for getting cosy and there is nothing more utterly cosy than a log fire. The smell, the heat, the crackle – it’s what winter wonderland dreams are made of. Give me a squashy sofa and an endless bottle of red in front of a roaring fire and, frankly, you can leave me there until March.

It is a great sadness that I don’t actually have a lovely fireplace of my own, however, I do have the next best thing. It’s a scented candle. Don’t laugh – naturally, this isn’t any old scented candle, it’s a Jo Loves Log Fires scented candle which smells so fantastically like a real fire you’d swear that you’d been transported to your very own Alpine retreat. Smoky, warm and deeply comforting, the blend is laced with Lapsang Souchong tea which gives an air of whisky and cigars. Think leather Chesterfields and crystal decanters.

Like all good things in winter (buttery mash, cashmere jumpers) the candle is rich and intense. An all-encompassing scent that fills the room and lingers, wrapping the room into a little bundle of toasty snugness. As with all Jo Loves candles, it comes in a heavy, luxurious jar which looks fantastic next to the sofa. Very hygge indeed.
