  • DOCUMENTARY A Dangerous Dynasty: House Of Assad, 9pm, BBC Two

This three-part documentary series charts the rise and rise of the Assad family, right to the top of the Syrian political system. In this opening episode, we meet a young Bashar al-Assad in London, where he trained to be an eye doctor and met his wife, Asma. So, how did they become a dangerous pair accused of war crimes? It started when Bashar's brother – who was meant to take the prime ministerial position – was killed in a car crash, leaving the position to the younger Assad boy.
