  • SEE A LIGHT SHOW

Allthough they're ocassionally visible in the UK, the beauty of the Northern Lights is a privilege usually confined to the Nordic region. The Eden Project's Festival of Light and Sound is a pretty good substitute, though. It takes place from November 25-26 (and throughout December) and features "a beautifully choreographed performance of music and light". For more information, click here

    Question masculinity

Never has there been a more apt time to question society's understanding of masculinity, male identity and power, and the Southbank Centre's Being A Man festival tackles all of it. It's on from today until November 26 and will feature speakers such as Simon Amstell, Robert Webb and activist Kevin Powell. For tickets and more information, click here

  • shop until you drop

Museum Store Sunday is about exactly what it says on the tin; it's a day dedicated to supporting museums and public venues around the country by shopping. The event, which It's making its UK debut on November 26, will give you access to discounts and family activities. It's the perfect antidote to Black Friday. For details of participating venues, click here.

  • BOOK NOW FOR LATER

Christmas season is officially here and events company Social Pantry and east London florists, Grace & Thorn have teamed up this weekend to bring you a bauble terranium workshop. SUPPORT SERVICES FOR VULNERABLE WOMEN

Her Stories is an art appeal with a difference. It's dedicated to supporting vulnerable women (and the services they need) with an art exhibition that opens to the public at Shoreditch's Protein Studios this Friday. The exhibition, which started at 12:30pm today and runs until Sunday November 26 at 4:30pm, supports the Young Women's Trust, Beyond The Streets and Solace Women's Aid. Click here for more information.

  • TREAT YOURSELF

If you haven't been to a Christmas fair yet this year, you're best starting off with the award-winning Bath Christmas Market. There's live entertainment, a food market and countless opportunities to find Christmas gifts for the family (or yourself). The highly-anticipated annual event runs until December 10. TAKE YOURSELF TO TATE LATES

Uniqlo Tate Lates have a reputation for being pretty much unmissable. This Friday, the Tate Modern is drawing inspiration from its Red Star Over Russia exhibition, complete with DJ sets, a Stray Dog Cabaret and a Soviet Sketching Salon, among other things. The event runs from 6pm-10pm today. Click here for more information.

  • BASK IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden is one of few places in the UK that's just as gorgeous in the winter as it is in the summer. And with the addition of a few christmas lights, it's even more stunning. Among other features, there's an illuminated Beech hedge, a Crystal Lawn that's "lit by a thousand spheres of light" and even a Fire Garden. It runs from November 24 - December 30. Advance tickets start at £14.
